The paper shows that the parasite Trichogramma evanescens Westw. is ecologically adapted to the local environment conditions and that, through controlled launchings, it can contribute to reduce by 60-90 per cent the attack of the Noctuid Lepidoptera larvae in the cruciferous vegetable crops. The tests performed in view of including this method of biological control in the complex schemes of phytosanitary protection of the cabbage and cauliflower crops have shown that the preventive launchings have better results than the curative launchings, due to a series of biological, technical and economic factors, namely: the possibility to have a rich biological material to be parasitated, due to the great number of generations this parasite may find in the field, as result of a short evolution cycle, equal to the incubation period of the Noctuid Lepidoptera eggs (8-12 days); the doubling of the biological parasitating ability after each evolution cycle, considering that two Trichogramma adults are developing, on an average from every egg of Mamestra spp. or Autographa gamma L.; the increase of the control effectiveness, as the Noctuid Lepidoptera eggs are always to be found in optimum parasitizing periods, when the embryo is not yet formed; the possibility to maintain this parasitizing material in the crop even after the application of some control treatments or under unfavourable environment conditions, as the parasite is partly protected by the chorion of its host
