Air pollution with industrial emissions in the territory of the industrial conurbation Hradec Kralove - Pardubice, and associated changes in atmospheric precipitation quality, induce regional changes in groundwater quality in the long run. SO2 content in the air corresponds in the given territory to time changes limited by quantities of sulfur emissions, particularly from the Opatovice power-station. Data processed by regression analysis confirmed the relation between SO2 content in the air and SO4**2- concentration in precipitation waters. Time releves of the groundwater chemistry showed an obvious trend of increasing SO4**2- concentrations in ground waters. Observation wells in the shallow network provided evidence of a 1.6 to 3.9 times higher increase against the original SO4**2- concentration in the last ca 30 years.
