1997
Lepp, E. | Song, J. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia). Faculty of Veterinary Science)
Respiratory organs in 62 calves were studied macroscopically. Inflammatory changes were found in 31 calves and atelectatic lungs in 20. Virological and bacteriological investigations were carried out on 24 calves. AD and RS viruses were isolated from the respiratory organs in 8 calves and in 7 cases strptococcus haemolyticus, salmonella or E. coli were found. In the case of virus infections, pneumonia in the interstitial tissue was observed histologically. In the case of streptococcus and E. coli infections, necrosis was present in the parenhymatous lung tissue. In 3 cases atelectatic pneumonia was found. Our results showed that it is not possible to differentiate congenital or secondary atelectasis from atelectatic pneumonia
