Trichinella spp., animals and man

T. nativa, T. britovi and T. spiralis have been found in Estonia. Racoon dogs, wild boars, red foxes wolves, bears, lynxes, blue foxes and silver foxes were invaded with T. nativa. T. britovi was identified in racoon dogs, wild boars, red foxes, wolves and domestic swine. The hosts for T. spiralis were brown rat and blue foxes. T. spiralis and T. britovi have been found from animals in the western part of Estonia, where as T. nativa has been found more to the east. Human trichinellosis caused by different species of Trichinella is discussed
