Study on the possibilities of vegetative reproduction of different species and forms of coniferous trees
1997
Vaasa, A. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia). Inst. of Horticulture)
The cuttings of 38 species and forms of coniferous tree were rooted to farmes in Raja experimental garden. There were two farms, one of which contained ordinary garden soil and the other a mixture of gravel and peat in the ratio of 3:1. 50 per cent of cuttings were treated with heteroauxin. The cuttings of some species, such as Pseudotsuga menziesii, Picea glauca, P. pungens, Pinus nigra, P. mugo and P. sibirica formed no roots. Of the different forms, the best rooting results were recorded in the case of Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Squarrosa' and 'Gracilis', when the rate of rooted individuals varied from 16 to 100 per cent in the different repetitions
