Effect of phosphorus, potassium and moisture level on the growth and root-nodule properties of alfalfa (Medicago truncatula)

A greenhouse experiment in a factorial design was conducted to evalute the effect of moisture content level and phasphate and potassium fertilizations on annual alfalfa growth and on number, size and weight of nodules. Glayloam soil was used in the experiment,and it was collected from the surface layer (10-30 cm depth) from Aski-Kalak area, Arbil province. Two moisture levels (65 and 100 of available moisture), three levels of phosphate as calcium orthophasphate (Zero,40, and 60 kg P/hectar) and three levels of potassium as potassium chloride (zero, 20 and 40 kg K/hectar) were used. After germination the plants were thinned to 10 in each pot. The plant harvested after 64 days for dry matter production and number, size and weight of nodules
