The larvae of Xanthogramma aegyptium has potential for mass rearing and release as a predator for control of citrus aphid, Toxoptera aurantii in tea. The Xanthogramma larvae's growth rate increased with corresponding increase in its feeding rate. One larvae fed on 10 aphids per day on average. The total life cycle from egg to adult was 23 days of which 10 were spent in the larvae stage. The long period (10 days), taken by the larval stage and its high consumption rate makes it potential for the use in controlling aphids. T. aurantii, mainly in the nurseries where T. aurantii is a major problem
