The article deals with the analyses of the occurrence of the species - the Greater Spotted Eagle and its biotops in different regions of Latvia. The review of historical data as well as the discussion of the recent observations of this species is presented. The investigation data of various breeding sites are delineated. The necessity for the protection of this species of predatory birds is emphasized
