New herbicides and their use on sugar beet

At the Plant Protection Research Institute of Belarus the new herbicides Redjo, Actipron and Poast Plus were tested for application in sugar-beets with the aim to establish their effect in weed control as well as their influence on the crop yield and sugar content in beets. The rates and times of herbicide application as well as their effect in killing different weeds (Agropyron repens and Amaranthus retroflexus in particular), were studied and are discussed. Weed control by herbicides with and without weeding was studied. As the result of the tests the most effective herbicides for weed control in sugar-beets were suggested
