Experiments with winter triticale were carried out on the soddy podzolic sandy loam on gravel soil in the period of 1992-1995. Sowing time and seed rates of the winter triticale variety "Bolero" were investigated. It was established that in southwest Lithuania on well cultivated soils the best winter triticale sowing time is the 25th of August and the 5th of September, and the sowing rate - 4.5-5.5 million of germinable seed. Grain yield reduction of 0.22 t/ha (6.5 ) occurred when sowing had been delayed for 30 days and the seed had been sown at a rate of 3.5 million germinable seed, at a seed rate of 4.5 million seed/ha the yield reduction was 0.27 t/ha (7.8 ). Seed rate increase to 6.5 million seed/ha was not efficient. The highest weed infestation level in winter triticale crop was established when the sowing time was August 25 and the seed rate 3.5 million seed/ha
