[Habitat and diet characterization of the mexican sppoted owl (Strix occidentalis lucida) at Sierra Fria, Aguascalientes state] | Caracterizacion de habitat y dieta de una poblacion de tecolote moteado mexicano (Strix occidentalis lucida) en Sierra Fria, Aguascalientes.

إنجليزي. The Mexican spotted owl (Strix occidentalis lucida) is considerated as threatened subspecie due to habitat loss. The study was conduced in Sierra Fria, Aguascalientes, with the following objectives: 1.To characterize the habitat of Mexican Spotted Owl in roost sites; and 2.To determine its diet composition. Owls were located with vocal imitations and habitat was characterized in circular plot (0.04 ha). The interes variables was aspect, vegetation and ground cober. The diet composition was determined with remains undigested material in regurgitated pellets. Habitat was characterized by cliffs, rockys and exuberant vegetation the Quercus spp., which were located in canyon, riparian and forested mountain at elevations ranging from 2400 to 2700 m, exposition northern and northeastern, and average slopes was the 29 deg. Diet composition consisted of nine mammals genera, two bird groups and an unknown number of arthropod species. Key Words: Owl (Strix occidentalis, lucida), habitats and diet.

الأسبانية؛ قشتالية. El tecolote moteado mexicano (Strix occidentalis lucida) se encuentra amenazado debido a la perdida de habitats. El estudio se realizo en Sierra Fria, Aguascalientes, con los objetivos: 1.Caracterizar su habitat en sitios de descanso y 2.Determinar la composicion de su dieta. Los tecolotes se localizaron con imitaciones bucales y la caracterizacion del habitat se llevo a cabo en parcelas circulares de 0.04 ha. Las variables de interes fueron: aspecto, vegetacion y cobertura del suelo. La dieta se determino con los componentes de las egagropilas. La mayoria se localizo en laderas de canadas, barrancas y cordilleras, en altitudes de 2400 a 2750 msnm, exposicion norte y noreste, y pendientes promedio de 29 grados con acantilados, riscos y penascos y una densa y predominante vegetacion de encino (Quercus spp.). La dieta fue de 9 generos de pequenos mamiferos, 2 grupos de aves y un numero no identificado de especies de artropodos. Palabras Clave: Tecolote (Strix occidentalis lucida), habitats y dieta.
