Correlation studies and path analysis of yield and its components were made in 27 progenies of Gossypium hirsutum L. The results showed that genetic correlations of number of bolls per plant and boll weight with yield of seed cotton were positively significant. Path coefficient analysis indicated that boll number and boll weight had profound positive direct influence on seed cotton yield while indirect effects of other characters were not pronounced. The studies suggested that direct selection for greater number of big bolls may increase yield of seed cotton in the plant material studied.
