Effect of term and method of sowing on seed yield of perennial ryegrass
1997
Zylka, D. | Pronczuk, S. (Instytut Hodowli i Aklimatyzacji Roslin, Radzikow (Poland))
The aim of the work was to study the effect of sowing season (autumn, spring) on yield of seeds. Four cultivars of Lolium perenne with different heading time were tested using three terms of sowing in autumn (1.09, 15.09, 30.09) and three metods of sowing in spring (pure stand and with spring barley 70 kg/ha and 140 kg/ha). The yield of overwintering, tillering and inflorescence number were analysed. Generally, the yield of seeds from spring sowing (pure stand) was higher about 10 percent than from autumn sowing. Significant positive correlation coefficients were obtained between seed yield and inflorescence number at the autumn terms but they were lower at spring sowing term
