Changes in the contents of the mineral substances (Na,P, K, Ca, Mg, S) in the grass canopy of the association of Lolio-Cynosuretum typicum were observed in the course of vegetation on three types of fertilization: non-fertilized control, PK-fertilization and NPK-fertilization. PK-fertilization lowered the contents of sulphur by 0.04 % but influenced the content of neither phosphorus nor potassium. NPK-fertilization slightly lowered the content of calcium, but obviously influenced the content of magnesium. The influence of the extreme climatic conditions in the course of vegetation on the quality of the fodder was observed to be greatest in the K:Na and Ca:P proportions. The proportion of K:(Ca+Mg) did not reach the value of 2.2 so that the existence of tetany from using the canopy is not probable
