Appearance of mite (Varroa jacobsoni Oud.) resistance to the active substance amitraz in the Slovak Republic

In several areas of the Slovak Republic with a heavy Varroa infestation level of colonies, possible resistance of the varroa mite (Varroa jacobsoni Oud.) to the active substance amitraz was investigated. Resistance was not confirmed in any case. The preparations Avartin-01 B-90 and Tactic, based on amitraz, belong to the most effective recent preparations used in the Slovak Republic. The standard preparation Avartin-01 B-90 when used in brood-free colonies has a curative efficiency of almost 99 %.
