Optimalisation of pig performance parameters in mother breeds during the hybridization

Increases of lean meat in gilts from the point of their following fertility were analysed. The research was performed in nucleus large scale herd of the White Improved breed. This mother breed was selected for increased proportion of meaty parts since 1994. Selection was according to measurements of lean meat in gilts in vivo by Piglog 100 set. An average value of 55.9 % of lean meat in 395 gilts was achieved after 2 years of intensive selection and introduction of boars with high meatiness. Correlations between lean meat and litter size were very low (r = 0.013). Gilts tested were divided by percentage of lean meat into 3 groups (1st under 53 %, 2nd 53.1 % - 58 %, 3rd over 58 %). Sows from the 1st and 3rd groupsachieved 8.27 and 7.72 live piglets respectively. However differences were statistically insignificant. A visible decrease of fertility of dams with higher proportion of lean meat was found
