The calculation of the critical wind velocity for soil deflation
1998
Klementova, D. (Slovak Technical Univ., Bratislava (Slovak Republic). Faculty of Civil Engineering)
The contribution deals with the calculation of the critical wind velocity at which soil deflation by wind is observed. It results that sandy soils and loamy sand soils in dry condition are endangered by wind erosion even at small mean wind velocities (from 2.3 m/s). Soil resistance to wind erosion no doubt increases with soil moisture, but in regions where the annual mean wind velocities are about 4 m/s, not even irrigation is sufficiently effective protection. For localities with extensive sandy and loamy sand soils it is necessary to project a complex anti-erosion protection
