Effect of gasless water and saccharose on yield parameters of radish bulbs
1998
Kovacik, P. (Slovak Agriculture Univ., Nitra (Slovak Republic))
A microplot greenhouse experiment was conducted to examine the effects of gasless water, saccharose and nitrogen fertilization on the production volume and quality of radish bulbs. A soil substrate comprising Orthic Luvisol and Terravita garden soil was used for the experiment. It was found that the application of both gasless water and saccharose had a positive effect on the yield of radish bulbs. The highest efficiency was achieved when the application of gasless water was repeated twice. At the same time, saccharose buffered the depressive effects of nitrogen over-fertilization and improved the transfer of assimilates from leaves into bulbs. Gasless water as well as a 5% saccharose solution had a non-significant but positive influence influence on the quality of radish bulbs
