Weight of selected organs and changes in erythrocytes, haematocrit and leucocytes in mice after an experimental cadmium administration
1997
Massanyi, P. | Hluchy, S. | Kovacik, J.
After administration of cadmium to mice, body weight and the weight of selected organs of all animals tested, regardless of their sex, were evaluated. A blood sample was taken to evaluate erythrocytes, leucocytes and haematocrit for the blood count. A significant difference was observed in the weight ratio of liver to spleen in both groups tested (P less than 0.01 and P less than 0.05, respectively) when compared to the control group. The group with higher cadmium concentration showed an increase in erythrocytes. A number of leucocytes decreased with the increasing cadmium dose, this decline being significant in male mice of both trial groups in comparison with the control group (P less than 0.001). No differences were found in haematocrit
