The grain productivity and quality of selected winter wheat cultivars
1993

Five series of winter wheat (15 genotypes and three standard cultivars in each series) were evaluated at two localities (Praha-Ruzyne, Klatovy) during two successive years within the period 1986 - 1991. Besides grain yield, the crude protein content, wet gluten content and swelling capacity of gluten were studied. The experiments proved the high level of Czech and Slovak breeding - domestic cultivars were surpassed in the whole series by only 9 foreign cultivars (Kosack, Citadel, Ares, Apollo, Kniprs, Florida, Brock, Martonvasari 16, and Hornet.) Potential donors of grain quality were selected. A relatively low interaction with the environment was confirmed in the gluten-swelling capacity even with the high genetic variability of this trait. The lowest genetic variability was found in crude protein content
