Biological potential of triticale (X triticale Muentzing.) genepool in Slovakian conditions
1993
Rychtarik, J. (Vyskumny Ustav Rastlinnej Vyroby, Piestany (Slovakia))
From 1989-1992 at the Research Institute of Plant production (RIPP) in Piestany the production potential of a collection of 347 selected triticale cultivars was studied with a view to using them in breeding programmes. The cultivars originated mainly in European countries, where selection of triticale has reached a high level. The production potential of the best cultivars reached or exceeded 12 tons per ha and was significantly higher than that of the standard winter wheat variety Viginta. The most important yield-forming elements were number of ears per square m, number of grains per ear and thousand grain weight. The most productive cultivars were: Polish CT 1/87, MT 7226-54, CHD 888, LT 1/88; Bulgarian No 23, GT-AD 1/87-88, GT-AD 2/87-88; German TSW 3001-8-7, TSW 2604, TSW 301, CIS 27466; British CWT 1981/DB 327, CWT 1982.7.27; French TBT 55-24, 76245, Swiss CH 50393 and USA Tritical 177/736
