Production ability of red clover [Trifolium pratense] cultivars

The forage and seed productivity of 29 cultivars and new crosses of different geographical origin were evaluated. Yields over two years (green matter, seed) and in the first production year (dry matter, nitrogenous substances) were statistically evaluated by the method of mean confidence intervals. Results are reported separately for 17 diploid and 12 tetraploid cultivars and new crosses. In both groups it was proved that domestic cultivars and especially newly bred cultivars are of the world standard. From among foreign cultivars the best diploid was Parka, while GKT Tetra and Matrai were the best tetraploids
