Methodical questions related to the evaluation of the productivity of forest management units are discussed. Three kinds of forest productivity are defined, namely natural productivity, real productivity and potential productivity. Forest productivity is expressed by different forms of increments: total volume production, total current increment, current periodical increment and total mean increment. Currently used methods for evaluating forest production and material benefits are given. Possible trends of solving methodical questions related to the evaluation of production and material benefits are proposed
