[Morphometric values of ovary, oviduct and uterus in rabbits]
1996
Massanyi, P. | Uhrin, V.
Histological structure of female reproductive organs in rabbits is presented. The study was conducted on 8 dams (Hyla hybrid, VUZV Nitra, Slovakia). Ovaries, oviducts and uteri of all dams were fixed in 10 percent-formalin, dehydrated in a graded series of ethanol and embedded in paraffin wax. Whole ovaries were sectioned on a microtome. The serial sections at a thickness of 10 nmm were stained with haematoxylin and eosin. From photographs based on micromorphological criteria, selected histological parameters were evaluated. From final data, basic statistical characteristics were calculated (StdDey, Mean). In the study of the number of follicles (Figure 1), the highest amount of primary follicles was found (2.76 per 100,000 square nmm). Lower amounts of follicles with less than 2 layers of granulosa cells (0.22 per 100,000 square nmm), follicles with more than 2 layers of granulosa cells (0.13 per 100,000 square nmm), follicles with antral formation (0.56) and atretic follicles (0.44) were counted per 5 followed fields. Content of primary, growing follicles and stroma was 3.02, 30.71 and 66.27 percent, respectively (Table 1). The diameter of the follicles ranged from 29.6 to 548.5 nmm, due to the developmental stadium of follicles. In the oviduct, the highest amount of muscular coat (57.77 percent) is reported (Table 2). We observed 23.13 percent of luminal epithelium and 19.11 percent of stroma. In the uterus we present that there is 48.73 percent of endometrium and 51.27 percent of myometrium. The endometrium consists of luminal epithelium (5.87 percent), glandular epithelium (5.78 percent) and stroma (88.35 percent)(Table 3)
