[Cholesterol content in egg yolk from Shaver Starcross 288 hens]

Changes of cholesterol in egg yolk from 288 Shaver Starcross hens in four groups depending on different (0.15-0.6 percent per kg) supplementation of regular diet HYD-10 with powdered red pepper were monitored. Yolk cholesterol level in the control group ranged from 1.25 percent to 2.0 percent (average 1.49 percent). In all four groups cholesterol content ranged from 1.21 percent to 1.86 percent (averages: 1.50 percent, 1.57 percent, 1.51 percent and 1.44 percent). Although the red pepper supplementation dramatically changed egg yolk colour, changes of cholesterol level were not significant and there was no tendency towards changes in yolk cholesterol content depending on supplementation of powdered red pepper
