Genotype frequency of kapa-casein in relation to milk performance in cows of Slovakian Spotted Cattle
1996
Matulova, K. | Debreceni, O.
Kapa-casein polymorphism was investigated in a group of 620 cows of Slovakian Spotted Cattle by the SGE-method. Also, parameters of milk performance (i.e. kg of milk, kg and percent of proteins) were evaluated. The occurrence of two variants of kapa-casein A (51.10 percent) and B (48.90 percent) with respective genotypes AA (13.71 percent) and AB (73.12 percent) were proven. It was found that cows with genotype AB in comparison with cows of genotype AA had 97.33 kg more milk yearly (non-significant), but a significantly higher content of proteins in milk by 0.33 percent (AA 3.24 percent, AB 3.57 percent) or a total higher protein content of 14.83 kg. B-allele conditions partially the higher content of proteins in milk. Other parameters of milk performance provide a more detailed description of breed, its improvement and following selection
