The aim of the work was to solve the problem of post-harvest processing of maize grain for seed. The agrophysical (firmness) properties of maize grain were investigated in the laboratory. Under a static load, maize grain had the highest firmness at a moisture content of 22-25%. When the moisture content was over 30% the firmness was reduced. The temperature of grain has an influence on firmness during loading, the grain with a +5 deg C to +10 deg C temperature being strongest. These results have been used to design post-harvest processing technology
