Study on blackgram seed quality from various nodes
1990
Suwimol Thanomsub | Thiraphon Silakun (Chainat Field Crops Research Center, Chai Nat (Thailand))
Blackgram, variety PL-2, was planted at Chai Nat, in the late rainy season of 1990. 4*14 Factorial in RCB with 4 replicates was used. Factor A comprised 4 different harvesting times; 60, 65, 70 and 75 days after emergence (DAE). Factor B was composed of the number of nodes on the main stem, 14 nodes. The results showed that nodes from the middle stem had higher seed quality and seed yield characteristic than upper and lower nodes. Harvest at 75 DAE gave a greater seed yield characteristic but less percent, germination. There were no significant differences in seed yield characteristics between 70 and 75 DAE but harvest at 70 DAE gave higher percent germination.
