The studies on possibilities of sweet corn growing, as a second or a stubble crop, were carried out on chernozem under irrigation conditions. The effect of three planting dates (P1 - June 20, P2 - July 1 and P3 - July 10) in the combination with two planting densities (D1 - 49,300 plants/ha and D2 - 59,500 plants/ha) on the yield of the sweet corn hybrid ZPSC 404su was observed. The reduction of average yields and the percentage increase of unusable ears were in a linear correlation with the decade shift of planting dates. The effect of planting density on grain yield was significant. The absolutely highest yield of 15.02 t/ha was obtained in the variant with the planting date on June 20 and the planting density of 59,500 plants/ha, while the lowest yield of 11.14 t/ha was obtained in the combination with planting date on July 10 and planting density of 49,300 plants/ha.
