Genetic values of yield components and protein content in F1 generation of maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids. [A short version of master thesis]

The mode of inheritance of some yield components, grain yield and protein content in F1 generation of SC maize hybrids obtained by diallel crossing of seven inbred lines were investigated. On the basis of biometric and genetic analysis of data, it is determined that row number of grain is generally inhered partially dominantly for all investigated combinations. Grain number per row and 1000 grain weight are inherited over-dominantly in F1 generation. Grain yield has the highest values of absolute and relative heterosis and it is inherited by the greatest over-dominance. Protein content in grain is inherited in F1 generation by dominance of the parent with lower protein content in grain and it shows negative values of heterosis
