[Dry matter production of red fescue (Festuca rubra) genotypes cv. for combine utilization on the Kopaonik mountain [Serbia, Yugoslavia]]

The paper includes the results of testing dry matter production of selected 8 genotypes originating from domestic (Yugoslav) populations and one from cv. K-14 red fescue (Festuca rubra L.). The experiment was conducted on the mountain Kopaonik (Serbia, Yugoslavia), at 1100 m a.s.l. The dry matter yield was determined in the period 1989-1991. In the previous pre-breeding research some observations were done which reffered to the basic morphological properties and phenophases of regeneration after the first cut. The aim of breeding was to choose the most productive individual genotypes of the best regeneration after the first cut and the utilization by grazing. New cultivar would be used for hilly mountain area in Yugoslav ecological conditions. According to the obtained results of dry matter production from the first and second cut, as well as total for each year in the three year period of utilization, the selection of the most productive genotypes more than 9 t/ha and about 30 in the second cut, will be the components of a new synthetic cultivar.
