The results of these continuos measurements were used to determine the irrigation time and rate in the experimental plots of the field. They can be used for an estimation of the soilmoisture profile and water balance of the system "soil-plants-atmosphere" and to define the relationships "yield-irrigation rate", "yield-evapotranspiration", "evapotranspiration-water content", water use efficiency etc. The soilmoisture meter and the alterrnative current bridge measurements of soil moisture based on gypsum blocks were conducted very fast without destruction of the soil and canopy structure.
