The insecticide Confidor (imidaclopride) is the only efficient aphicide allowed in Europe against the damson-hop aphid Phorodon humuli (Schrank). The first experiments in biological control of this pest show the interest of the exotic ladybird in the French hop gardens. Toxicity of Confidor on third instar larvae and adults is studied. The very first results show the sensitivity of the third instar larvae to this aphicide. This toxicity is not so important on adults, but there is a direct effect on fecundity of Harmonia axyridis.
