1998
Slavcheva, T. | Purchev, P. (Institut po Lozarsvo i Vinarstvo, Pleven (Bulgaria))
Effects of different trainings - semi-high form, modified Moser, Umbrella, Geneva Double Curtain (GDC) and Pergoletta - on root system development were found according to training system. Greatest amount of roots - feeding (diameter 2 mm) and conducting (diameter 2 mm) - was established with GDC, followed by semi-high training; smallest - with modified Moser's system. With GDC and semi-high training thick roots development in deeper soil layers occurred, as well. More considerable differences in relation to the training were found with fine roots. With all variants two maximum of root distribution in the soil layers existed at depths of 20-40cm (30-53% of root total dry mass) and 120-140 cm. However significant differences in root amount of soil layers studied were established only in respect to the first maximum.
