Kotkas, K. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia))
In Estonia according to the technology developed in Research Centre EVIKA, the multiplication is carried out in plastic rolls. The multiplied plants are not always with same productivity and seed tubers with uniform size. In the test-fields of the first generation the influence of 5 multiplication methods, rooting powder Juka 4, and 4 genotype on the number and size of seed tubers was studied. By the using of rooting powder Juka 4 the tip- and stem-cuttings had 1.7-2.5 times more roots. The amount of tubers per plant and size was more influenced by the method of multiplication, genotype, as a rooting powder. The in vitro plants and plants multiplied 1-2 times in plastic rolls had 1.6-2.8 times more tubers per plant as plants obtained from tip- and stem-cuttings. In seed production fields the average number of tubers per plant has been 6.5-9.0 and it is per more as a half million plants
