The cucumber Kauniai are of midseason for growing in open soil by amateur growers. The plants are of medium length, compact, rather richly branching out with medium size, dense leaves. The variety population consists of 50-60 of female and predominantly female plants and 40-50 of male plants. Fruits are short (8-9 cm), elipsis shaped, white spined. Cucumbers are good for pickling. The variety exceeds the registered variety Traku pagerintieji in early and total yield by 57.6 and 28.1 respectively. The output of marketable yield is 95. In 1995 the variety Kauniai was submitted to the state variety testing.
