Dziaugys, V. | Klimas, R. | Klimiene, A. | Rapkauskas, G. (Lithuanian Institute of Animal Science, Baisogala (Lithuania))
The study was conducted in 1997. Purebred Lithuanian White sows were characterized by the highest, and Pietrain sows - by the lowest reproductive traits. The control fattening data indicated that pigs breed in Lithuania reached 100 kg weight in 184-205 days. The control slaughter data indicated that bacon-type Lithuanian White pigs had the longest carcasses (99.1-99.2 cm) and purebred Lithuanian White pigs - the shortest (96.8 cm). Landrace pigs had the highest (60.2), and Lithuanian White had the lowest (51.4) meat percentage in carcass. Thus, carcass qualities of purebred Lithuanian White pigs are lower in comparison with other breeds and types of pigs.
