The article reports on the findings of research carried out on the ways of using agricultural potential of Latvia, as well as describes sources and methods applied in the research. The potential of nature and soils, and the applied technologies are particularly well-suited for the growth of perennial grasses to obtain high value fodder. Plant production in its turn forms a basis for an effective development of dairy farming. Also the potential of nature, soil and technology in several regions of Latvia are suitable for the development of grain farming. This branch has been nominated as the second main agricultural branch for the production of feed grain and food grain. Besides, pig and poultry farming, as well as production of sugar-beets and sugar, potatoes, fruits and vegetables have good potentials for their successful development.
