To characterize the state of Latvia's agriculture and forecast its development, the number and area of farms have been analysed separately from the area and number of landed properties having agricultural significance. The aim of the work has been to determine the distribution of agriculturally significant landed properties according to their total area, to the land area used for agricultural production and to the area of forests. The number of juridical and physical owners of landed properties and the distribution of land area among them have also been determined.
