Weed survey and sustained follow-up control were found to be useful to prevent infestation of newly introduced weeds. In the Ngabang-Sanggau-Sintang-Nanga Pinoh region of West Kalimantan, Asystasia intrusa was not sighted, and the following five introduced weed species were found to be of limited distribution in oil palm and rubber estates: Pennisetum polystachion, Asystasia coromandeliana, Chromolaena odorata, Mimosa pigra and Mikania micrantha. Imperata cylindrica and Melastoma malabathricum were widespread.
