[Estimation of a component of water balance using time-domain reflectometry] | Estimacion de un componente del balance de humedad mediante reflectometria de dominio del tiempo

إنجليزي. The estimation of a component of water balance allows to obtain the soil water content. The technique time-domain reflectometry can be used to measure soil moisture in situ. Therefore, during the agricultural cycle (autumn-winter) 1993-1994 one experiment was conducted in a loamy-clay soil in the Comarca Lagunera. The objectives were to know the time-domain reflectometry equipment and to evaluate the necessity of calibration of TDR equipment. The results indicated that the estimation of soil moisture by using the TDR equipment is more precise and time saving in regard to other methods. However, an adequate calibration of the TDR (Sentry 200-Ap) is required when used in loamy-clay soils. In conclusion, the time-domain reflectometry can be used as a reliable method to estimate soil moisture as a component of water balance

La estimacion de un componente del balance de humedad permite obtener el contenido de agua del suelo considerandose que la tecnica del reflectometro de dominio del tiempo puede ser una buena alternativa para medir el contenido de agua en el suelo in situ. Durante el ciclo agricola (otono-invierno) 1993-1994 se desarrollo un trabajo en un suelo migajon-arcilloso de la Comarca Lagunera con los objetivos de conocer el manejo del equipo TDR y evaluar la necesidad de calibracion. Los resultados indican que la estimacion de la humedad del suelo mediante esta tecnica da mayor seguridad y rapidez que otros metodos, pero se hace necesaria la calibracion del equipo (Sentry 200-Ap) en suelos migajon-arcillosos. Se concluye que la tecnica del reflectometro de dominio del tiempo puede ser un metodo confiable y preciso para estimar la humedad del suelo como un componente del balance de humedad
