Early post-emergencies combined herbicides for optimum control of weeds in sugarcane
1998
Nierves, J.C. | Delos Santos, D.A.
The experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Design at La Granja Agricultural Research and Extension Center [La Carlota City, Philippines] from February 1996 to February 1997 to determine the efficiency of the different herbicide combinations for optimum control of mixed weeds in sugarcane. Although no significant differences were noted on the different growth and yield parameters of Phil 8477, the early post-emergence treatments produced more number of tillers per plot 3 MAP and at harvest. Cane tonnage and sugar yield were higher in plots applied with high rates of Round-Up at 1.5 li/ha and 2.0 kg/ha of Gesapax. The treatments that closely followed were the handweeded and the application of 1.0 li/ha Round-Up, plus Karmex at 1.5 kg/ha. The overall results showed that the effect of the herbicide combinations of Round-UP Gesapax, Karmex and 2,4-D in controlling mixed weeds in sugarcane was just as good as the handweeded treatment and generally influenced the growth and yield parameters of Phil 8477
