The effect of 4 culm removal treatments with 2 years interval on culm yield and aboveground biomass production was investigated in a 3-year-old established Bambusa sp. 2 plantation from 1989 to 1994 in flatland and hillyland sites in Pandapan, Tagum, Davao del Norte [Philippines]. The culm removal treatments were: T1 - removing all 3-year-old culms and defective culms; T2 - removing all 3-year-old and 1/2 of 2-year-old culms and defective culms; T3 - removing all 3-year and 2-year-old culms and defective culms; and T4 - clearcutting or removing all 3, 2 and 1-year-old culms and defective culms removed except less than 1-year-old culms. The culm removal treatments were applied on flatland and hillyland sites. Results revealed that removing all 3-year-old culms including defective culms (T1) and removing all 3-year-old and 1/2 of 2-year-old culms including the defective culms (T2) produced the most number of culm per clump with an average of 12.10 and 10.34 culms, respectively, which are not significantly different from each other in the flatland site. In the hillyland site, removing all 3-year-old culms including the defective culms (T1), removing all 3-year-old culms and 1/2 of 2-year-old culms including the defective culms (T2) and removing all 3-year-old and 2-year-old culms including defective culms (T3) produced the most number of culm per clump with average of 4.69, 4.22 and 4.21 culms, respectively, which are not significantly different from each other. Litter production in flatland site was recorded at 598.47 gm/sq.m trap and 333.28 gm/sq.m trap in hillyland. Flatland site had higher aboveground biomass and had faster decomposition rates of leaf litterfall compared to hillyland site. The best regression equation for yield prediction in flatland and hillyland sites was Y=b1 D + b2 DH + b3 D2H2
