Pathogens like Bacillus thuringiensis and Nuclear Poly hidrosis Virus for the control of pests, particularly, Lepidoptera larvae, are being used in different parts of the world. At Cotton Research Institute Sakrand, different stains of B. thuringiensis (3 during the years 1992-93 and 5 during 1993-94) on cotton crop against H. armigera and compared with Karate. The experiment was laid out in RCBS where the plot size was 100 feet X 100 feet. Pre treatment observations were recorded before one day of application and subsequent post observations after 10 days of every application and then the percentage of damage and efficacy was calculated. Our experimental results show that during 1992-93 season MVP resulted in 100% mortality of larvae at 10 days after the first application. Like wise 10 days after the second application, all the products including Karate gave 100% mortality of Heliothis larvae. While, during 1993-94 cotton season all the strains gave better control than the pesticide Karate.
