Influence of the degree of damage by apple leaf miner (Stigmella malella Stt.) on volume and quality of apple yield

The experiments were conducted on Wealthy apple trees in central Poland and Bancroft in northern part. Pest population in borth orchards was low. On Wealthy trees (below 1 mine/leaf) during 3 years of experimenting no significant correlation was found between number of inflorescences and yield volume on control and protected plots. On Bancroft trees in the first 1.5 mine/leaf of first generation moths was scored and 3 mines/leaf of the second one. In the second year the infestation was very low. The number of mines had decreased in the control as compared to protected combination. Similar differences were recorded in volume and quality of harvested crop
