Content of some linear furanocoumarines in the frutis of plants from Heracleum sp.

21 samples of fruits, deriving from 12 species of plants belonging to Heracleum sp. on the content of 4 linear furanocoumarins: xanthotoxin, bergapten, imperatorin and byakangelikol were examined. The study was carried out by RP-HPLC method, enabling the determination of tiny changes in the concentration of these compounds in Heracleum fruits, depending on the geographical zone and the plant origin. Variable content of linear furanocoumarins, both in different Heracleum species and subspecies and within one species - H. sibiricum - of various geographical origin was determined. The isolation method for byakangelikol was elaborated and the identity of this compound was confirmed by spectral methods
