Effect of gibberillic acid (GA3) on the growth of grafted hazelnut plants in a nursery
1997

The length of internodes formed in midsummer as well as the number of leaves on the main shoots were markedly increased in GA3 treated plants. The higher GA3 concentration influenced the shape of leaves which became more oblonged than in untreated plants. The leaf area was also affected by this growth regulator. The treatment of hazelnut grafts with GA3 prolonged somewhat the growth activity period of the shoot apical meristem within the growing season, but the winter hardiness of plants was not influenced. The use of GA3 as a single spray allowed to obtain commercial quality grafted hazelnut plants within one growing season
