The persistence of aviation gasoline in soil is presented. The laboratory experiment was organised in 11 treatments with 3 replicates for each of them. The soil used for this investigation was a cambic chernozem. The experimental variants were spiked soil with different concentrations of aviation gasoline (from 0.2 to 2 percent). The determination of aviation gasoline from soil by gravimetric method referred to: the persistence of aviation gasoline established in soil, the choice of one solvent used for less extraction of organic matter from soil and applicability of gravimetric method for petroleum products. The aviation gasoline does not persist more than 30 days in soil. The solvent which gives significant results is chloroform. Gravimetric method is also suitable for petroleum products not only for total contents of hydrocarbons (petroleum residues).
