The paper contains the results of some complex research concerning physico-chemical characteristics and effectiveness of organomineral fertilizers with nitrogen based on lignite, peat and colliery residues. The data indicate that these fertilizers have several specific qualitative properties that make them fertilizers of superior quality. These fertilizers contain compounds with nitrogen included in an organomineral matrix which slows down and prolongs the periods of hydrolysis, ammonification and nitrification. Because of their long persistence in soil, plants assimilate nitrogen is a higher percentage than from ammonium nitrate and urea, and its leaching in soil is more slow and much more reduced.
