The system of classification of soil in the Republic of Moldova consists of the structure of classification, the systematic list of subtypes of soils and their subdivisions. The taxonomic units of soil are divided at two levels: superior-types and subtypes: inferior-sorts, species, varieties and variants. The systematic list of types and subtypes of soil is, at the same time, a scale of evaluation of these taxonomic units. It was established a certain average mark of evaluation for each subtype of soil in concordance with average features and hydrotermic regime of these taxonomic units. The proposed system of classification of soils in the Republic of Moldova will contribute, to a great extent, to the correlation with both-the Romanian map of soils and the World map of soils elaborated by FAO/UNESCO.
